What is study skills? 

Describe the skills needed to be successful in 7th grade - list and share with a partner.

 

Tuesday

 

Students will identify the meaning of being a Top 20 Teen

Students will distinguish between Above the Line characteristics and Below the Line characteristics

  Students will identify what it means to be a student who is working Above the Line and one who is working Below the Line

Organize binders using the colored folder system

 

Wednesday

 

Students will complete a survey to determine their learning style

Watch video "Geography - Why it Matters" - in a small group write the definition of geography

  Students will set goals for second quarter - identify S.M.A.R.T goals

 

Thursday

Discuss learning styles - get in group with like-learning styles and discuss your learning strengths and weaknesses

Students will identify the Theme of Location:  Define absolute location and relative location and latitude and longitude

Create a grid on a map and label the following:  equator, Prime Meridian, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Arctic Circle, Antarctic Circle, North Pole, South Pole

 

  Students will complete a multiple intelligence survey to identify their best learning environment.

 

 

Friday

 

Continue working with grid - identify equator, Prime Meridian, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Arctic Circle, Antarctic Circle, North Pole, South Pole

Locate places in an atlas using latitude and longitude

 

 

Discuss the multiple intelligence survey

Have students discuss in groups of like intelligences their strengths and weaknesses

Read about a famous person who shares their intelligence
